James W. Elmore, 68, formerly of Keokuk, died at 3:15 AM Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Mr. Elmore was born March 18, 1941 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Harry S. and Mary Margaret Griffin Elmore. He lived in Keokuk for most of his life but moved to Rutledge, Missouri, in 1991. He was a self-employed leather worker. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Keokuk and later was a Jehovah’s Witness.
He is survived by a son; and two sisters, Margaret Mercer of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Dorothy Holland of Keokuk, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Delmar Elmore; and three sisters, Eva Stewart, Betty Whiteside and Shirley Parsons.
His body has been cremated and there will be no visitation or service.
DeJong’s Funeral Home in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.
