Veronica Fern Riddle, 88, of Montrose, died at 9:20 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Mrs. Riddle was born March 27, 1921, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Verne Virgil and Pearl McKibbon Clement. She married Roland Edward Riddle in 1938 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1986. She lived most of her life in the Burlington and Montrose areas. She was a member of Argyle Presbyterian Church and a past member of Martha Chapter #5, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed painting, craftwork, and reading. She especially enjoyed eating out with her family and friends.
She is survived by four children, Roland Edward Riddle Jr. and his wife, Rosemary, of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Sue Ann Vickers and her husband, Jack, of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Dan Keith Riddle and his wife, Jeannie, of Montrose, Iowa and Timothy Joe Riddle and his wife, Keri, of Osceola, Iowa; eight grandchildren and three step grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one step great grandchild; and a sister, Jeannette of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Michael Riddle; five brothers; and one sister.
A memorial service was Friday, September 4, 2009, at DeJong’s Funeral Home in Keokuk with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Inurnment followed at Keokuk National Cemetery
