Joyce Ann Hamelton, 66, of Alexandria, Missouri, died at 11:02 AM Saturday, September 12, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Alexandria.
Joyce was born August 17, 1943, in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Charles Herbert and Margaret Mae Brown Hamelton. She was married to Ronald Earl Gates for sixteen years. She was a lifelong resident of the Alexandria and Keokuk area. She was employed as a medical aid and EMT, and was last employed at Methode in Carthage, Illinois. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed crocheting and flower gardening. She was a loving lady devoted to helping and giving to others and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by a daughter, Lora Trone of Alexandria, Missouri; a son, Doug Gates of Alexandria; two granddaughters, Kayla and Amanda Trone of Alexandria a great grandson, Deegan Brown of Alexandria; a brother, Gerald Hamelton and his wife, Ann, of Keokuk, Iowa several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Sandra Gates.
Graveside services were Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk with Rev. Joseph Graham officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Joyce Hamelton.
