Helen Edith Gorham 71, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at 6:50 p.m. at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Helen was born October 15, 1937, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of George and Velma McKay Bartholomew. She married Richard Gorham on October 14, 1955 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, Iowa. She was a life long resident of Keokuk, Iowa. She was self employed as a dog groomer. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. In the past she did ceramics, sewing, craft work and painting the crafts. She was an avid flower gardener. She especial enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Gorham of Keokuk, Iowa; three children, Kent Gorham and his wife Debra of Burlington, Iowa; Melissa Wise of Keokuk, Iowa; Robin Gorham of Keokuk, Iowa; four grandchildren, Heather Koita, Sean Gorham, Joshua Gorham and Adam Gorham; five great grandchildren, Tre Wise, Kiya Wise, Tyrese Wise, Kenya Siasi and Cora Gorham; one brother, John Bartholomew and his wife Bev of Hamilton, Illinois; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Inez Carlson; half brother, George Bartholomew; stepfather, Richard Bartholomew; and a great granddaughter, Faith Gorham.
A celebration of her life was Thursday, September 24, 2009 at DeJong's Funeral Home.
