Ruth Anna Strohmaier 97, of Keokuk, Iowa went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 3:55 AM at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Ruth was born on September 4, 1912 in Keokuk, Iowa the daughter of Virgil and Hazel Inman Varner. She married Lester Strohmaier on October 10, 1929 in Lewistown, Illinois. He preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of Keokuk, and a homemaker. Ruth and Lester were the first licensed foster home in Lee County which she was very proud of and she enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Bel Air Baptist Church in Keokuk, Iowa.
She is survived by two sons: Robert Strohmaier and his wife Pamela of Keokuk, Iowa.
Byron Keefe and his wife Pamela of Muscatine, Iowa; ten grandchildren any several great grandchildren; one Brother Hubert Varner and his wife Juanita of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; one Sister- in-law Pauline Varner of Ft Madison, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Mary Jean Ver Kuyse
One son, Wayne Strohmaier, and a granddaughter Melanie Rose Strohmaier.
Funeral services were Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 4:00 PM at DeJong’s Funeral Home. Burial followed at Oakland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Bel Air Baptist Church in Keokuk, Iowa.
