Sherman Lee Davis, Sr., 48, formerly of Keokuk, died Sunday, October 18, 2009, at his home in Des Moines, Iowa after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on May 30, 1961 to Mary and Clarence Davis, the second youngest of eight children. He married at the age of 18 to Nancy Malone. They divorced in 1988. He married Jackie Todd in 1992.
His hobbies included fishing, billiards, horseshoes, softball and camping. He greatly enjoyed Sudoku and other brain puzzles. He was a fairly simply man with lots of wonderful family.
He is survived by four siblings, Mary (John) Jones of Des Moines, Iowa; Donna Davis of Keokuk, Iowa; Rose (Gary) Sonderleiter of Des Moines, Iowa; Raymond Davis of Keokuk, Iowa; three children: Misty (Nathan) Hinz of Des Moines
Sherman Davis Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; Brandon Davis of Keokuk, Iowa; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a daughter Amber; two older brothers, Clarence Davis Jr. and Kenneth Davis; and a sister, Alta Margaret.
Memorial services were Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at DeJong’s Funeral Home with a reception and potluck dinner to follow at the Town Hall in Alexandria, Missouri.
