Elleree Wells, 88, of Commiskey died at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.

Mrs. Wells was a 1937 graduate of Paris Crossing High School. Employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years at the Commiskey Post Office, she was assistant post mistress for 26 years and post mistress for four years. She was a member of Commiskey Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing and visiting her friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Commiskey Baptist Church with the Rev. Bart Smith officiating. Calling is from 4:00–8:00 p.m. Saturday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon and after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Commiskey Baptist Church.

Born October 10, 1919, in Commiskey, Mrs. Wells was the daughter of Harry and Daisy Crull James. She married Arthur O. Wells on June 27, 1941, in Salem.

Surviving are a son, James G. (Bonnie) Wells of Commiskey; a daughter, Patricia (David) Zyp of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, James A. (Jennifer) Wells and Joshua B. (Kelly) Wells of Commiskey and Victoria L. Zyp of Washington D.C.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on February 10, 1974; two brothers, Orville and Roy James; and three sisters, Britomarte Reece, Wilda Gordon and Hilda Fay McIntire.
