Dorothy Mae Waltermire, 63, of North Vernon died at 6:57 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008,
at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Mrs. Waltermire worked at Arvin Industries Gladstone Plant in Columbus for eleven years, retiring in 1999 as a welder. She previously worked at the former Carpenter Body Works in North Vernon from 1982 to 1988. She had attended Southwestern High School in Shelby County and was a former member of Queensville Community Church. She enjoyed horseback riding, painting, reading and dancing.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. William A. Ramey officiating. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until time of the service Thursday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of Jennings County.

Born October 24, 1944, in Cambria Co., Pennsylvania, Mrs. Waltermire was the daughter of Robert and Verda Brothers Urish. She married William Laten Waltermire on February 14, 1979, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Surviving with her husband are a son, J. Robert Waltermire of Columbus; two stepsons, Delbert Ray Waltermire of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Allen Dale Waltermire of Harker Heights, Texas ; two stepdaughters, Cynthia (John Wayne) Purbis of Scipio and Shannon (John) Clark of Clifford; and eleven grandchildren, Amanda, Bradley, Jennifer and Wendy Waltermire of Texas, Ashley and Andrea Harrison of Scipio and Doug, Terry, Johnnie, Riley and Raley Clark of Clifford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Billie Jo Moore; and two grandchildren, Michael L. And Kenneth E. Moore.
