| | | Dorothy Mae Barker, 88, of Paris Crossing, died at 9:34 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Mrs. Barker was a homemaker, had been involved in farming and was employed at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville as an attendant for 14 ½ years. She was a member of Coffee Creek Christian Church near Paris Crossing. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and sewing.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Coffee Creek Christian Church with the Revs. Ron McKinney and Sherman Thomas officiating. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Coffee Creek Christian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Coffee Creek Christian Church.
Born May 23, 1920, on Owsley Co., Kentucky, Mrs. Barker was the daughter of William and Amanda Caudill McIntosh. She married Woodrow C. Barker on October 4, 1938, in North Vernon.
Surviving are five sons, Terry Wayne Barker of Greenwood, Roger Dale (Lorraine) Barker and Norman Edward Barker of Columbus, Billy Joe (Betty) Barker of Seymour and Earnest Lee Barker of Commiskey; a daughter, Pauline Sue (Paul) Brooks of North Vernon; a brother, Hubert McIntosh of North Vernon; a sister, Julian Manning of Commiskey; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on October 10, 1996; a daughter, Ireva Mae Barker; brothers, Herbert, Chester, Henry, Carl and Brownlow McIntosh and William McIntosh Jr.; and three sisters, Bertha Perry, Etta Kessinger and Jean Burwell.
