Lawrence Eugene Dean, 69, of Columbus died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Dean worked as a truck driver for 30 years, retiring in 1985 from Kenny Greenly Trucking Company. A former resident of Jennings County, he attended Scipio School and North Vernon High School. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon. Calling is Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery near Scipio.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Heart Association.

Born May 15, 1939, in Jennings County, Mr. Dean was the son of Clarence and Lora Mae White Dean.

Surviving are his companion, Linda Hardin of Columbus; three sons, Kevin Dean of Butlerville, and Nathan (Christina) Dean and Michael (Patti) Dean of Edinburgh; two daughters, Teresa Tichenor of Westport and Sheryl Staublin of Butlerville; two brothers, Wilbur (Ann) Dean of Florida and Eddie Dean of Riverview, Florida; two sisters, Diana Porter of Columbus and Judy (Robert) Ramsey of North Vernon; 13 randchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Lou Bowen Dean; a son, Lawrence Wayne Dean; and a brother, William Robert Dean.
