| | | Harlan L. Vogel, 61, of North Vernon died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Mr. Vogel worked for CSX Railroad, formerly the B & O Railroad, for 21 years, retiring in 1987 as an agent operator. He was a loan officer at Union Bank & Trust Company in North Vernon from 1987 -1997, and since that time had been a loan officer at Main Source Bank, also in North Vernon.
A 1964 graduate of North Vernon High School, he attended Purdue University for three years, majoring in business management. He was a member of Jennings County United Way for nine years, serving as president for four years, and a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting coins, fishing and reading.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Revs. David Wharton and Richard L. Burcham officiating. Calling is from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Jennings County.
Born October 4, 1946, in Seymour, Mr. Vogel was the son of Charles F. And Clara Ethel Short Vogel.
Surviving are a sister, Cecelia (Dale) Pettit of North Vernon; a nephew, Doug (Della) Miller of North Vernon; and two nieces, Cheryl (Greg) McConnell of Howell, Michigan, and Julie (Darrel) Kemmerer of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
