| | | Alice Jean Preslar, 69, of North Vernon died at 9:25 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2008, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Mrs. Preslar was a driver for Day’s Express in Taylorsville for 15 years, retiring in 1997. She was a correctional officer in the Oklahoma Prison System from 1977 to 1982, and prior to that worked at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. She was a 1958 graduate of North Vernon High School and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Matt Hester Post 2021 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday August 5, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. Lane Fairchild officiating. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Baldwin Cemetery near Vernon.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Veterans of Foreign Wars Matt Hester Post 2021 Ladies Auxiliary.
Born June 9, 1939, in North Vernon, Mrs. Preslar was the daughter of Charles and Amanda Campfield Robbins. She married Jerry L. Preslar on January 29, 1982, in Jennings County.
Surviving are sons, Tim (Carol) Hadley, Jeffery Hadley and James (Sherley) Hadley, all of North Vernon; stepdaughters, Tina (Greg) Wasserott of Cedar Lake and Cathy (Joe) Brazeau of Merrillville; sisters, Josephine (Carl) Pearson of North Vernon and Alberta (William) Wilber of Muncie; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on September 5, 2007; daughters, Karla and Rebecca Hadley; a stepson, Jerry Preslar, Jr.; brothers, Bud, William, Robert E. and Warren L. Robbins; and a sister, Barbara Harrison.
