Allen Junior "Bear" Collett, 53, of North Vernon died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mr. Collett had owned and operated Collett Mowing Service for several years, and also worked at Kroger in Columbus and ITT in North Vernon. He enjoyed flea markets, yard sales, fishing, hunting and working on tractors. He was a member of Queensville Community Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, at Queensville Community Church with the Rev. William A. Ramey officiating. Calling is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Heart Association.

Born December 25, 1954, in Floyd Co., Kentucky, Mr. Collett was the son of Allen Madison and Cindy Whitt Collett. He married Alice Lucas on May 28, 1977, in North Vernon.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Perry Allen Collett of North Vernon; a daughter, Crystal Collett of North Vernon; seven brothers, Timothy, Estell, Lucky and Larry Collett of Floyd County, Tommy Collett of Mud Creek, Kentucky, and Michael and Kenny Collett of North Vernon; a sister, Hope Isaac of Floyd County; and five grandchildren, Jacob, Logan and Brady Bennett, Isabella Collett and Haylee Ballard of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Velma Neal.
