| | | William Albert Haines, 78, of North Vernon died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Mr. Haines was employed at Golden Foundry in Columbus, retiring after 35 years. He loved being on his farm and driving his tractor.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard L. Burcham officiating. Calling is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born December 6, 1929, in North Vernon, Mr. Haines was the son of William Ormond and Hazel Marie Wilds Haines. He married Patricia Ann Dickey on December 25, 1948, in Vernon.
Surviving are two sons, Bill Haines of Bloomington and Terry (Karla) Haines of Ormond Beach, Florida; a daughter, Sharon (Kenneth) Hunt-Weddel of Avon; a brother, Joe Haines of Morgantown; two sisters, Mary (Lawrence) Abell of Scipio and Dorothy (Lowell) Cobbs of North Vernon; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on October 8, 1987; and a daughter, Christine Mae McConnell on July 23, 2007.
