| | | Opal Lorene Ellison Roark, 81, of Commiskey died at 4:08 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2008, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Mrs. Roark was a homemaker. She was a member of Big Creek Old Regular Baptist Church in Dupont and attended Queensville Community Church. She enjoyed flowers, cooking, gardening and sewing.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. William A. Ramey and Brothers Charles Shepherd, Doug Gibson, Clay Wilson and Jimmy Ray Bailey officiating. Calling is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Dupont Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Big Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
Born June 27, 1927, in Blackey, Kentucky, Mrs. Roark was the daughter of Roscoe and Stella Cornett Ellison. She married Jonah M. Roark.
Surviving are five sons, Garland (Dorothy) Roark of Elizabethtown, Carrol David Roark of Scipio, Tommy (Pamela) Roark of Commiskey, Lonnie (Linda) Roark of Grantville, Kansas, and Daniel (Donna) Roark of Charlestown; a daughter, Chenilla Roark of Commiskey; a stepdaughter, Bertha Turner of Line Fork, Kentucky; a brother, Glenn Cornett of Hamilton, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on June 1, 1987; a stepson, Curliss Roark; and two brothers, George Cornett and William Ellison.
