Marguerite Walp, 83, of Paris Crossing, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, at her home.

Mrs. Walp was a homemaker and had worked as a cook at Paris Crossing School in the 1950s. She was a member of the Deputy Alumni Association, Paris Crossing Home Economic Club and Coffee Creek Baptist Church, and a former member of the Air Force Ground Observer Corp. She attended Deputy School.

She enjoyed painting portraits and other pictures. A lifesize portrait of Jesus that she had painted is on display at the University of Pennsylvania. She also enjoyed writing poetry and drawing cartoons, several of which have been published.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 29, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. Ray Blythe officiating. Calling is from 4:00-8:00 a.m. Thursday and after 9:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery in Jefferson County.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Coffee Creek Baptist Church.

Born February 17, 1925, in Deputy, Mrs. Walp was the daughter of Earl E. and Sylvia B. Baxter Wyne. She married Donald L. Walp, Sr.

Surviving are a son, Donald L. (Sondra) Walp, Jr., of Paris, Ind.; a daughter, Regina McIntosh of North Vernon; a sister, Ruth Smith of Deputy; eight grandchildren, Jack McIntosh, Jr., Stephen (Traci) Walp and Shannon G. Walp of Deputy, Cynthia Uebel of Lexington, Dianna (Ardell) Mitchell of Crothersville, Sally Barber of North Vernon, Melissa McIntosh of Scipio and Christina (William) Salsman of Commiskey; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in December 1983; two brothers, George E. And Stanley Wyne; and a sister, Mary Helen Field.
