| | | Drucilla June Johnson, 85, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Jennings Healthcare in North Vernon, Indiana.
Ms. Johnson previously worked for the JayC Food Store in North Vernon. She had been a cashier there from the early 1970’s until her retirement in 1985. Prior to that, she worked for Standard Grocery Store in Columbus. She was a member of the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in North Vernon for many years. She spent her life serving others by providing meals to those in need and helping friends. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her flowers and working in her yard.
She graduated from Vernon High School in 1941.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Hoggan Tevis officiating. Calling will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon and one hour before the service. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of Jennings County.

Born July 9, 1923, in San Jacinto, Jennings County, Ms. Johnson was the daughter of Stephen Cook and Mary F. Beatty Cook.
Survivors include her daughter Mildred of Albany, Georgia and son-in-law Darrell Webb of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael A. Johnson in 1994; and a sister, Mary Mildred Downing in 1996.
