| | | Roxie Mae Barber, 95, of North Vernon passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, Indiana.
Mrs. Barber retired from I.T.T. Industries in North Vernon, Indiana, after 16 years on the assembly line. She attended school in Vernon, Indiana, and enjoyed going shopping, reading, bird watching, playing cards and spending time with her family. Mrs. Barber was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in North Vernon, Indiana.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made through the funeral home to your preferred charity.

Born October 18, 1913, in Paris, Kentucky, Roxie was the daughter of Ward Dillard and Stella Willoughby Fitzpatrick. She married Bennie J. Barber on November 28, 1931 in Vernon. Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1981.
Survivors include three sons, Robert W. (Janet) Barber and Bennie J. (Mary) Barber, of North Vernon, Indiana, and Michael D. Barber of Vernon, Indiana; two daughters, Betty Lou (Pete) Shepherd and Stella Lynn (Kenny) Cummings of North Vernon, Indiana; a special friend, Kathleen Kiser of North Vernon, Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sue Carol Barber Sklarew; four brothers, Oscar Franklin Fitzpatrick, Ward Dillard Fitzpatrick, Kenneth Fitzpatrick, and Herman Fitzpatrick; two sisters, Dianthe Fitzpatrick and Ruth Fitzpatrick.
