Ruth Marie Irwin, 87, of Scipio, Indiana, passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana.

Mrs. Irwin was the co-owner and office manager of "Bill Irwin Tradesman." She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1939.

She was an active member and Sunday School Teacher of Bear Creek Baptist Church. She was a former Scipio PTO member and Home Demonstration Club member. She was a founding member of the Jennings Association of Retarded Citizens organization.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Wally Hines officiating. Call will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2008, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery.

Born April 19, 1921, in Clarksville, Indiana, she was the daughter of John and Alma McDaniel Robins. She married William D. Irwin on September 13, 1942, in North Vernon, Indiana. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2000.

Survivors include three sons, John (Betty) Irwin of Hayden, Paul Michael (Jane) Irwin of Scipio, and Keith Dennis Irwin of Columbus; one brother, Robert (Jo) Childs of Columbus; and one sister, Florence I. Hamilton of Westport; three grandchildren, Charlene (David) Maddox of Montana, Victoria Irwin of North Vernon, and Tamara Frazier of Hayden; and three great-grandchildren, Brittnie Johnson of Montana, Austin Johnson of Montana, and Jarard Frazier of Hayden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Cynthia Ann Irwin.
