James Leon Purdee, Jr., 49, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at his home. Mr. Purdee retired in August of this year from St. John Trucking in North Vernon, Indiana. Prior to that, he was employed as a carpenter with Jay Wilson Construction for six years. He attended Wheeler County High School in Alamo, Georgia. His hobbies included carpentry and mechanics. The funeral will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at his residence, located at 2748 Worthington Way in North Vernon with the Rev. Gary East officiating. Visitation will be immediately following the funeral, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at his residence. Cremation is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana. Memorials contributions may be made to Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to help the family with final expenses. Survivors include two brothers, Jeff (Tammy) Purdee of North Vernon and Joey Dwayne (Pam) Purdee of Hamilton, Alabama; and one sister, Mary Jane (Lester) West of Amory, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents.
