| | | Aubrey F. Duncan, 86, of North Vernon, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 5:20 p.m. at Jennings Healthcare Center in North Vernon, Indiana.
Mr. Duncan was the previous owner of Dogwood Lake Campgrounds in Butlerville from 1973 to 1989. In 1974, he retired from his sales career at Mid-West Brake and Electric in Indianapolis. He had also been employed for 14 years at Weather Tite in Columbus, Indiana.
Mr. Duncan was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of Otter Creek Baptist Church in Nebraska, Indiana, and the Moose Lodge in North Vernon. He enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana, with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana, with military graveside honors.
Memorial contributions may be through Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to Riley Children’s Hospital.

Born, December 12, 1922, in Morrison, Tennessee, Aubrey was the son of John C. and Nellie Bennett Duncan. He married Hazel Wood Duncan on May 29, 1946, in Acton, Indiana. She preceded him in death on August 7, 1999.
Survivors include one son, Larry (Kathy) Duncan of Butlerville; one daughter, Connie (Leonard) Ruedlinger of North Vernon; one brother, James R. (Ginny) Duncan of Indianapolis; one sister, Betty Whalen of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Ethan Ruedlinger, Rachel Scott, Jami Ruedlinger, Michelle Hill and Jason Duncan, all of North Vernon, and Matthew Ruedlinger of Seymour; five great-grandchildren, Noah Hill, Jillian Scott, Aubrey Hill, Hadlee Hendrix, all of North Vernon, and Hannah Ruedlinger of Seymour.
Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Sandra Duncan; one great-granddaughter, Madison Duncan; three brothers, John C. Duncan, William Duncan, and Edward Duncan; and three sisters, Hazel Duncan, Susie Duncan, and Juanita Clark.
