Mrs. Lucille Berndt, formerly of Sunset Road in Port Washington, passed away peacefully at Heritage Nursing Home Wednesday morning, June 27th, 2007. She was 90 years old. Lucille was born on September 3, 1916 in Port Washington, daughter of Ben and Margaret Hoff Blumenberg. She was united in marriage with Edward Berndt. He preceded her in death in 1972. Lucille was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Berndt was a great cook, had done much canning and baked wonderful treats. Her daughter has fond memories of coming home many Friday nights to a house full of warm, just baked bread. Mrs. Berndt is survived by her four children: Irene (Raphael) Brunette of Mequon, Leonard Berndt of Port Washington, Shirley (Joe) Schroeder of New Berlin and Caroline (John) Davies of Palmdale, CA . She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, son Ronald, 5 brothers: Walter, John, Richard, Ben and Elmer and 4 sisters: Lorraine, Flora, Alice and Margaret. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 29th, 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 217 Freeman Drive, Port Washington. Pastor John Klieve will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Glen Oaks (formerly Evergreen) Cemetery, Milwaukee. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Friday from 9-11AM. Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s Building Fund. The Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family.
