Ms. Anita Benavides of County Highway LL in the town of Port Washington found peace on October 5, 2007 at the age of 56. She was born in Waukesha on December 8, 1950, daughter of Leonides and Anita Hernandez Benavides. Anita loved dancing, swimming, and being with children. She is survived by her life-partner Amy Gritt of Port Washington, 9 brothers and sisters; Lucio (Sheila) of Madison, John (Debra) of Wauwatosa, Samuel (Betty Jo) of Mukwonago, Leander (Linda) of Grafton, Hope (Pat) Gill of Cedarburg, Rudy (Jackie) of Mequon, Joseph “Tono” of Cedarburg, Santos (Diane) of Random Lake and Bridgette (Kathy) Benavides of Grafton. She is further survived by aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Seferina and Juan Hernandez, her mother Anita H. (Joseph) Herman Jr., her father Leonides Benavides, uncles Trino, Jessie, Inez, and Joseph Hernandez, her baby brother Joseph I, her sister-in-law Jeannie Benavides and special friend Debra “Toby” Torbeck. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 11th at 2 PM at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes at 13235 W. Capitol Drive in Brookfield. Interment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park following services. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Chapel of the Chimes from 1-2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family. Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
