MR. JOSEPH P. BIRENBAUM

Mr. Joe Birenbaum, of Butler Street in Random Lake, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his family, on Friday afternoon, November 9th, 2007. He was 89 years old. Joseph was born in the Town of Holland on February 10, 1918, son of John and Susan Feyereisen Birenbaum. On May 18, 1946 he was united in marriage with Beatrice Schueller at St. Rose Catholic Church in Fredonia. The couple farmed in the Town of Fredonia until they retired in 1981. Joe was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Mary’s Chapel in Random Lake, where he was a former Council member and member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Birenbaum had been the Chief Ranger for the local Catholic Order of Foresters for many years. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and a good game of sheepshead. He is survived by his wife, Beatie of Random Lake, their 6 children: Kathleen (the late John) Schmidt, Sue Ann (Joseph) Johannes, both of Cedar Grove, Peter (Janice), John (Marilynn), Joseph Jr., all of Random Lake and Thomas (Donna) of Fredonia. His is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 5 brothers: Raymond (Clare) of Tuscon, AZ, Vincent of Random Lake, Clemens of Fillmore, Eugene (Alice) of Belgium and Richard (Shirley) of Cedar Grove. Joe is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, son -in-law John Schmidt and his sister Marie Wollner. A Mass of Christian Burial will take on Monday, November 12th, 10:30AM at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Mary Chapel, Random Lake. Father Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave., Belgium, on Sunday from 3-7PM and Monday morning at the church from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of the Lakes Parish.
