Sylvia Adam, age 89 years of Walters St. in Port Washington died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Harbor Club where she was a resident for the past three years. She was born November 20, 1918 in Port Washington, daughter of Joseph and Dorothy Feltes Schowalter. On August 10, 1940 she married Frederick “Mippy” Adam at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. He preceded her in death in 1987. Sylvia was in partnership with her two brothers in the J.J. Schowalter Co., Port Washington, which was started by her father in 1930. She was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington, Port Washington Historical Society, Ozaukee County Historical Society, Friends of W.J. Niederkorn Library, Friends of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, Port Washington Senior Center, and a former member of Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing cards. She is survived by two brothers Jerome “Bud” (Mary) Schowalter of Sebring, FL and Allan (Betty) Schowalter of Port Washington, three sisters Dolly Barclay and Rita Decker of Port Washington and Lenore (Emery) Medinger of Sun City West, AZ, 32 nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one nephew. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday eve. April 18, 7 PM at St. Peter of Alcantara Cathoalic Church, 1800 N. Wisiconsin St., Port Washington, with Father Pat Wendt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will be at the CHURCH Friday from 5-7 PM. Memorials to charity of choice appreciated.
