Herbert Bartelt, age 84 years of 907 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington died Saturday, August 2, 2003 at St. Michael’s Hospital, Milwaukee where he had been a patient. He was born March 15, 1919 in Mequon, son of the late Herman and Minna Schultz Bartelt. He worked as a machinist at Simplicity Mfg. for 40 years. On August 20, 1943 he married Vivian Bruggink at First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1969. On October 5, 1973 he married Eunice DeBroux Dohrwardt at Friedens Church in Port Washington. She preceded him in death in April, 2003. Mr. Bartelt was a WW II Air Force veteran, a member of Friedens Evangelical Church in Port Washington, IAM Local 1430 and Royal Neighbors of America Saukville Camp. Herbert is survived by 2 sons Robert (Barbara) of Port Washington and Ronald (Lauren) Bartelt of Saukville, stepchildren David Dohrwardt of Milwaukee, Donald (Lisa) Dohrwardt of Fredonia, Dollie (Todd) Mullins of Keensburg, IL, Darlene (Kenneth) Harvey of Plymouth and Darrell (Debra) Dohrwardt of Saukville,24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 sister Delores Leppla of Port Washington, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, six brothers, two step grandsons and one great granddaughter. Funeral services Wednesday August 6, 2 pm at Friedens Evangelical Church, 454 N. Milwaukee St., Port Washington with Rev. Mark Voll officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation at the CHURCH Wednesday from noon until 2 pm. Memorials to Friedens Evangelical Church appreciated. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is in charge of arrangements.
