Mrs. Ada Marie Sticklen, age 84, long-time resident of the Jackson area, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, in Columbus, after having suffered a heart attack on Saturday, November 5th. She was born on June 8, 1921in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Bessie Hoopingarner and Martin Sutton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Sticklen.
Mrs. Sticklen is survived by four daughters and their families: Mrs. Andrea Joseph, her husband Randy, and daughters Nikki and Kristen, of Wellston; Ms. Marian Crooks of Toledo, Ohio; Mrs. Jayne Van Curen, her husband David, and daughter Jayme, of Hilliard, Ohio; and Mrs. Rose Lanham, her husband Bob, and children Krissa and James, of Rome, Italy and New Haven, Connecticut. She also leaves her sister, Mrs. Virginia Sticklen, the widow of Harry W. Sticklen, of Wellston; sister Mrs. Myrtle Queen of Lakeview, Ohio; two brothers, Mr. Richard Copas of Wellston, and Mr. Martin Sutton of Denver, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Forest, and George Sutton, and Walter, Jim, Bud, and Robert Copas, and her sister, Mary Copas Rice.
Active in many local organizations, her primary association was with Calvary United Methodist Church, where she was a member for more than fifty years, a United Methodist Woman, and long-time teacher of the Willing Workers Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Sticklen retired in 1986 from her job as a cook for Jackson City Schools, mostly at South Street School.
Her family and friends will join in a celebration of her life at Calvary United Methodist Church, on Chillicothe Street, at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, November 26, 2005. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2005 at the funeral home.
