Marquette – Mary C. Feltner, 92, of 600 Norwood Street, Marquette, entered eternal life early Wednesday morning, October 7, 2009, at the Norlite Nursing Center, in the loving and comforting care of her family and the Norlite staff.
Born April 6, 1917 in Marquette, a daughter of Phillip and Clara (Cavalucci) DePetro, Mary was a lifelong Marquette resident. On June 25, 1938 she married Robert Feltner at St. Peter Cathedral. Together the couple established a home and raised their two children in Marquette. Mary’s family was her life and she always had candy and cookies for her dear grandchildren. No matter where she went, she always dressed and acted like the lady she truly was. A faithful and devoted Catholic, Mary prayed her rosary daily for the intentions of family and friends. Mary was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and often left the visible sign of lit candles that her prayers were being offered. She will be missed by her family and remembered most for her Italian family spaghetti dinners that she prepared for the family every Sunday.
Survivors include her son, Paul (Hilma) Feltner and her daughter, Judith (Michael) Stowe both of Marquette; six grandchildren, Gina (Chris) Bouws of Marquette, Cindy (Chris) Limback of Alpena, Bobbi (Adam) Carpenter of Marquette, Katrina (Mike) Mattila of Marquette, Randy (Amanda Jordan) Stowe of Marquette and Christina (Joel) Slade of Ann Arbor; nine great-grandchildren, Kylie Stowe, Raina Allen, Anthony Pesola, Luke Slade, Rhett Limback, Owen Limback, Caden Bouws, Amelia Bouws, Landon Carpenter; and three soon to be great-grandchildren; her sister, Rose Richardson of Marquette and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; three grandchildren, Michael Stowe, Jr., Keith Stowe and Bonnie Stowe; five brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Saturday, October 10, 2009 beginning at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm Saturday afternoon with Rev. Larry Van Damme as celebrant. A reception will follow in the St. Michael Parish Center. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mary’s grandchildren. The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family.
