|Carol Mae Bartelt, age 77 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2008 in the Bethel Home in Oshkosh, surrounded by her family’s love. On December 25, 1930 she was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the daughter of Erwin and Nelda (Peterson) Folletz. Carol moved to Oshkosh when she was a junior in high school and made friends quickly and easily with her wonderful sense of humor. She was still having lunch with some of her high school friends at least once a month before her illness. She married her best friend, Donald Harvey Bartelt on June 23, 1951 in Algoma Methodist Church in Oshkosh. They have been married for 57 years and have three sons: Jeffrey, Bruce and Daniel. Carol, along with her husband, owned and operated “Miller Clock Service, Inc.,” for over 50 years. She was the secretary and treasurer of the business and loved clocks of all kinds. She enjoyed helping people pick out the right clock, and would always answer the phone by telling you the time. Carol enjoyed golfing with friends and family and would be on the course at least three times a week with her woman’s league. She was active member of Peace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for 15 years while her sons were growing up. She was also a member of Top Hat and was an enthusiastic member of the dance club at the Legion on the Lake. Carol loved her grandchildren and was always cheering them on in all their school special activities and sporting events, making sure everyone had lemon drops.
Survivors include her beloved husband: Donald Bartelt; three sons: Jeffrey (Linda) Bartelt of Waupaca, Bruce (Amy) Bartelt of Franklin and Daniel (Paula) Bartelt of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren: Nicholas Bartelt of Rogers, AK, Nicolette (Ryan) Haase of Oshkosh, Kari Bartelt (fiance’ Ty) of Appleton, Kimberly Bartelt (fiance’ Josh) of Beaver Dam, Ross Bartelt, Elise Bartelt and Annika Bartelt all of Franklin; a new great-granddaughter: Addison Marie Hoekstra; two brothers: Leroy (Pearl) Folletz of Newton and Gerald (Sue) Folletz of Oshkosh; three sisters: Shirley (Verdon) Hatch of Provo, UT, Fern Kallin of Sturgeon Bay, Joyce (Tom) Eberhart of Pickett and many nieces and nephews. Her parents and her brother-in-law: Vern “Sonny” Kallin preceded her in death.
