Wallace J. "Wally" Dickson, age 80, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009 at home peacefully with his family at his side after an extended illness. He was born on May 30, 1929 in Wausau, Wisconsin a son of the late Bruce D. (Bessie A. Tolchard) Dickson and step mother, Audrey Tolchard. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He married the former Ruth M. Selwitschka on January 28, 1950 in Oshkosh. Wally was a Cost Accountant and had worked for and retired from the Kimberly Clark Corporation. Wally greatly enjoyed fishing, and he will be remembered by all who knew and loved him for his sense of humor, being a "Jack of all trades", for saving "everything", dancing, traveling, flea markets and most of all, treating all with respect, love and friendship.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Ruth M. of 59 years; two sons, Douglas (Diane) and Daniel (Jody) both of Oshkosh; two daughters, Christine (Don Jr.) Zemke of Oshkosh and Susan Dickson, Winneconne; a brother, Arnold (Beulah) Dickson of Wautoma; three sisters, Shirley (Ed) Behm of Madison, Bernice Dickson of Minnesota and Audrey Witkowski of Madison; thirteen grandchildren, Scott (Tammy) Zemke, James (Jen) Zemke, Angela Zemke, KC Dickson, Nic (Gwen) Dickson, Heidi (Brian) Henslin, Heather Luebke, Jamie (Pat) Kriz; twelve great-grandchildren, Dylan, Regen, Austin, Ciarra, Katie, Nathan, AJ, Becca, Jordan, Reilly, Lucas and Noah. He is further survived by several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends and his faithful companion pet "Sparky".
Funeral services followed by military honors for Wally will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Oshkosh Community Church, 2351 Ryf Road, with the Reverend Alan Cleveland officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Lake View Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held for the Dickson family (TONIGHT), Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Avenue and visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund is being established. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the:
