| | | Thelma Evelyn Middleton, the daughter of John E. and Effie (Callise) Lack, was born August 16, 1918, in Webster City, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Webster City High School in 1936. Thelma also resided in Rockford, IL and Nevada.
Thelma married Dick Hotz on March 28, 1937, in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove where they owned and operated grocery stores. They later divorced.
On February 17, 1968, Thelma married Bruce E. Middleton at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Thelma worked as a legal secretary for Henneberry Law and secretary for Knudsen Realty.
Thelma was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Esther Circle.
Thelma passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce on July 7, 1993; her parents and brother, John E. Lack.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Peterson of Eagle Grove; grandson, Chris Peterson of Eagle Grove; three great-grandsons: Jessie, Ben and Jacob Peterson; step-daughter, Jane Gustafson of Burlington; step-grandsons, Bruce and Paul and step-granddaughter, Ann; sister-in-law, Betty Sanders and husband Ernie of Rockford, IL and her nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
Memorials can be directed the Eagle Grove Ambulance Association or the United Methodist Church.
Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
