With the warmer weather finally arriving in the Midwest we are thrilled to see the signs of new life ~ flowers blooming, trees budding, farm animals being born, and crops growing. If we have faced a loss in the past year, or even longer ago, that thrill just isn’t the same. We wonder if life will ever be considered “normal” again. Sometimes, we must find a new normal.

By finding this new normal it doesn’t mean you are forgetting your loved one. It simply means you are working your way through life in a different fashion than you did when your loved one was alive. Take time for yourself and take time for your grief.

Remember your loved one in a way that is meaningful to you. Maybe it is visiting the cemetery; or watching your favorite movie ~ it is OK to let the tears flow; maybe it would be helpful to write your thoughts down ~ journal, poetry, or letters; making a scrap book, going back to that favorite fishing spot; do what is helpful to you to deal with your loss. Even though we all will face loss in our lifetime, we all deal with it differently and that is OK. Some people seem to move on quickly while others take a while longer. The important thing is you face your grief and deal with it. How this is done is up to you. Fouts Funeral Home has many resources available that we can share with you.
