| | | Rodney Lee “Barney” Johnsen was born December 27, 1957, to Lynn and Juanita (Heim) Johnsen in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised in the Woodbine area and attended Woodbine High School. While in school he wrestled, played football, and drove the school bus. Barney graduated from high school in 1976. After graduation Barney operated a well business and worked in the construction industry. Barney married Robin Norcutt in 1982. Barney married Terri Rupp in 1989, and the couple was blessed with one daughter, Chasity. Up until his death he worked as the maintenance man at Regency Lakeside Apartments.
Barney enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed playing cribbage. He was an excellent artist ~ especially with pencil drawings.
Barney died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Montclair Nursing & Rehab Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 51 years, five months, and six days.
Barney was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Johnsen in 1997; brother, Rex Johnsen in 1999; and sister-in-law, Barb Johnsen in 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Chasity Johnsen of Omaha, Nebraska; mother, Juanita Johnsen of Woodbine, Iowa; three brothers, John (Leia) Johnsen of Logan, Iowa, Gale (Deb) Johnsen, and Charlie Johnsen all of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
