| | | DeLoris Gene (Ellison) Hull was born January 21, 1927, to Elmer and Nellie (Flaharty) Ellison in Logan, Iowa. She was raised in the Logan and Woodbine area and graduated from Woodbine Normal High School in 1945. She taught country school for a few years. DeLoris married Robert Daniel Hull on June 16, 1946 at the First Christian Church in Woodbine. The couple lived in the Woodbine area where DeLoris worked at Rose Vista Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide from 1959 – 1980. She also worked at the Bolte Café and the ice cream shop.
DeLoris was a member of the First Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary for 61 years, and the Jolly Clique Club. She also served as a Cub Scouts’ Den Mother. DeLoris was active at the meal site. She enjoyed making ceramics, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed canning vegetables.
DeLoris died on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Rose Vista Nursing Home at the age of 82 years, six months, and 28 days.
DeLoris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Hull on September 6, 1998; two sisters, Shirley Mae Piglsey and Vonda Glee Hammack; and brother, Dale Lyle Ellison. She is survived by her three children, Carol (Randy) Timm of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Karen (Larry) Shanno of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Robert (Donna) Hull of Thornton, Colorado: five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, LaVonna (Don) Clark of Woodbine, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Delbert Pigsley of Kamrar, Iowa and Dencil Hammack of Woodbine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
