| | | Robert Paul Schlensig was born July 6, 1925, to Paul W. and Anna (Peters) Schlensig in Dunlap, Iowa. He was raised in Dunlap and graduated from Dunlap High School. Bob married Evelyn Timm on January 15, 1947. The couple farmed in the Dunlap area and retired from farming in 1981. Bob also worked at the sale barn and the Co-op in Dunlap.
Bob loved his grandchildren and great grand-children. He enjoyed maintaining a beautiful lawn, and he also enjoyed cheering on his Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Bob died on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 84 years, one month and 30 days.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Lee Schlensig; son-in-law, Elmer Melby; and two brothers, Roger and Frank Schlensig. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Schlensig of Dunlap, Iowa; two daughters, Janelle Melby of Dunlap, Iowa and Judy and her husband Tom Gray of Weston, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Chrissy (David) Waido, Nicki (Kevin) Bordovsky, Teresa (Shane) Kepford, Darcy (Nick) Behrendt, Doug (Traci) Melby, Pam Melby, and Emily Melby; 14 great grand-children; and many other relatives and friends.
