| | | VIRGINIA BEACH—Norris Ray Culbertson, 82, of the 5600 block of Pontiac Road went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2009. A native of Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late John D. and Lucy Hogan Culbertson and retired as an assistant manager at Farm Fresh after 26 years of service. He was a faithful member of Kempsville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, usher, greeter, and member of the Bill Baker Sunday School Class. He was a volunteer firefighter in Emporia, VA for 11 years and served in the U. S. Navy Seabees during World War II.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 59 years, Joan Massey Culbertson ; a son, Michael A. Culbertson of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Tiffany Lee Culbertson of Virginia Beach, Heather Marie Culbertson of Chesapeake, and Christopher Ray Culbertson of Whaleyville, VA; one great-grandchild, Colby Ray Johnson of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Doris Boring and her husband, Milton of Winter Haven, FL and Ruby Culbertson of Forest City, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Kempsville Baptist Church, Virginia Beach with Dr. Kelly Burris officiating. Entombment will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Please share a memory with the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.com.
