CHESAPEAKE – Delsie Carraway, 83, of the 2900 block of Rodgers Street, passed away September 10, 2009. A native of Jamesville, NC , she was the daughter of the late Martha and Lawrence Ellis, Sr. and wife of the late Allen R. Carraway. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Puckett, grandson, David Allen Guill; two sisters, Neva Grey Stalls and Essie Brown Stalls. She was a retired photographer for Thalhimers Portrait Studio and a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Gail Carraway Coluzzi of Florence, SC and Debi Carraway Evans of Virginia Beach. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, John Guill, Jr. of Chesapeake, Aaron Puckett of Georgia, Debbie Barrett-Welch of West Virginia, Jeremy Evans of Chesapeake, Jennifer Evans of Chesapeake and several great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Griffin of Williamston, NC, and Joan Brown of Jamesville, NC; two brothers, Samuel L. Ellis, Jr. of Jamesville, NC and Dr. Wayne Ellis of Rocky Mount, NC. She also leaves some special sons-in-law, especially Jerry Evans, and many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Many years ago she, Allen and their daughters, along with a few Christian friends, organized and started a new church in their home which became Fairview Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Raleigh Heights Baptist Church, 1000 Crowell Avenue, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Please share a memory with the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.com.
