CHESAPEAKE—Edward T. Spruell, 84, of the 900 block of Shillelagh Road, passed away October 3, 2009. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Milton D. and Lucy Lee Dixon Spruell and husband of the late Dorothy Fairer Spruell. He worked more than 40 years at the Virginian Pilot as a chief electrician and was a former member of the Tidewater Western Riders and the Wesleymen Bible Class.
Surviving are his children, Amy M. Oates and her husband, Glenn; Jenny L. Schrader and her husband, Lowell; Richard D. Cake; and Cynthia L. Genovese and her husband, Michael; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, George Robert Cake, Jr. and 11 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Rev. Ernest Trueblood officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
