VIRGINIA BEACH - Harold Lee Linkous, 79, of the 6400 block of Auburn Drive, went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2009 in Norfolk. A native of Mercer County, WV, he was the son of the late Willie Roy Linkous and Fannie Elizabeth Vincent Linkous and was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Linkous; a daughter, Carolyn Harris; three sons, Phillip E. Linkous, Donald Weast and Robert Weast, Sr.; and a sister, Fredia Goodman. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, Virginia Association of the Blind, Blind Tidewater Bowler’s Association, and the Visually Impaired Group of Virginia Beach.

Surviving are his wife, Nawatha Jean Linkous; three daughters, Linda Putnam and her husband, John of Chesapeake, Fredia Wright and her husband, Jeffrey of Greensboro, NC, and Sue Weast Gregory of Salisbury, MD; four sons, Harold Wayne Linkous of Virginia Beach, Larry Weast of Riverside, CA, Leon Weast and Charles Weast, both of Chesapeake; more than 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Willie Roy Linkous of Bluefield, WV and James Linkous of Lancaster, CA.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Pastor James Baker officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Hampton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel on Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions should be made to the Virginia Association of the Blind, 4209 George Washington Highway, Portsmouth, VA 23702.
