Mr. Carl George Witzig of Sparrowbush, NY, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Orange Regional Medical Center Arden Hill Campus. He was 89.
He was born August 6, 1918 in West Hoboken, NJ the son of the late Herman and the late Lina Illi Witzig
He was married to the late Jennie Bassi Witzig who passed away November 22, 1985.
He worked as a Maintenance Machinist for Westinghouse in Jersey City, NJ.
He proudly served his country in the US Army Ordinance during WWII.
He was a member of Roosa - Fleming V. F. W. Post No. 161, Port Jervis. He was also a member of the Swiss Turn Verein. He volunteered at the Farnum House in Port Jervis for many years. He was a member of the Golden Seniors of Sparrowbush, the Leisure and Deerpark Seniors, the German American Society of Tri-States in Port Jervis.
A family statement read: “A sweet, gentle soul has passed from the loving arms of his family here on earth- to his family in heaven. He will live forever in our hearts for he is “not dead but just is away on a vacation” and we will one day be with him again. “Auf Weidersehn, until we meet again…”

He was predeceased by three brothers: Herman, Alfred and Henry; and a sister Emily.
Friends may call at the GRAY-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.
