Ralph Denmark, Jr., 93, of Temple Terrace, FL passed away on July 13, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY.
Ralph was born on April 3, 1917 in Elmira, NY. He was the son of the late Ralph and the late Agnes Barr Denmark.
A graduate of Southside High School and Elmira Business Institute, Ralph was also a WWII Army Veteran who served in France and Germany. He was a Staff Sergeant First Class in the 94th Division. After the War, he returned to Elmira where he was employed by Thatcher Glass for 38 years as a manager in charge of production of glass manufacturing. It was at Thatcher Glass where he met his future wife, Margaret Dickinson. They were married on Sept. 14, 1946 in Elmira. The family remained in Elmira until Thatcher opened an office in NYC and they moved to Fair Lawn, NJ in 1958. Ralph and Margaret remained in Fair Lawn until they retired to Florida in 1975.
Ralph and Margaret were married for 41 years prior to her passing in 1987, he remained in Temple Terrace where he still has many friends. Ralph was known for his quick wit, his kind and gentle nature, and his perfection of a daily routine and schedule that allowed him to live happily and independently until his recent illness. He was happiest surrounded by his family, entertaining them with stories of his childhood escapades and delighting in his family’s accomplishments. He was an avid follower of baseball and an active golfer. A life-long Yankee fan, he recently switched his allegiance to the Tampa Bay Rays.
He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Runnalls and her husband Lee of Otisville, Patricia Rossman and her husband, Richard of Clifton, NJ, son, David Denmark and his wife, Robin, of Cross River, NY and his sister, Betty Hayduk of Elmira, NY; five grandchildren: Amanda, Bridget, Emily, Blake and Hannah and four great grandchildren: Kelsie, Madelyn, Edward and Charlotte. Also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Harold, and sister, Marian Lanzillotto.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 17, 2010 10:30 a.m., in Otisville-Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church, 25 Main St., Otisville, NY 10963
A private burial of with Military Honors will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, FL with his wife Margaret.
