Hello, I am a cousin who has not been in Port Jervis for years. Our Dad Maurie was one of your mother/grandmother's brothers. I remember Shirley as as a fun person. My brother Ed and Shirley are of the same age. Eunie and I are about the same age, and used to get together when I visited Port as a kid, and stayed with Aunt Mary. I have wanted to get in touch with her for years and would like to before it is too late for us. I remember "Herkie" giving us a difficult time.... And often have wished I knew how to get in touch with you. I am sorry this was the avenue to get back in touch. Ed and his wife were in Port a few months ago and tried to get in touch with Shirley but couldn't. He did locate Cynthia Furman and she had sent the obituary to him.
I moved back to Central New York recently, my husband passed away three years ago and grief isn't easy....... Memories help so much. I would so much like to touch base with family again........
My prayers are with you during this time.
Your cousin

To the family of Shirley Zeller: Your mother has done so much for so many, and in only a way she could. She was outspoken and inspired me so many times to speak my mind (even when others didn't agree.) She will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincere condolences,

While we are all naturally saddened by her passing, let us rejoice and marvel at her life, and what a life it was, filled with caring and service to others, a true role model for us all.
A friend of the powerless, everyone was equal in her eyes, and she would go out of her way to help the least fortunate.
Jesus said "Whatever you do for the least of these, you do for me" Matthew 25:40.
Shirley was indeed, the "conscience" of our town!
Let us honor her in death by inspiring us in life, to increase our service to mankind, without expectation of reward. And to fight for what we believe is good and right without apology.
That was Shirley's life.
"Well done, my good and faithful servant"
