Our funeral home is a family owned and operated business. We are large enough to give our families the same service as the largest funeral homes around, yet we are small enough that each family gets the level of attention and care they deserve.

Eric Johnson
Owner-funeral director
Eric was born in Great Falls, MT son of Jim and Carol Johnson. He was raised in western North Dakota where his parents owned and operated the Johnson Funeral Homes. Following graduation from Parshall High School, he attended mortuary college at Gresham, Oregon. He moved back to North Dakota where he interned and later managed funeral Homes in central North Dakota. This is where he met and married my wife Kandace, who have four children. They moved to Thief River Falls in January of 1992 and Eric worked at the Green Funeral Home until July of 1995 when he purchased the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls, which is now known as Johnson Funeral Service Inc. Eric along with his brother, Erling purchased the Green Funeral Home in 2001. The name has been changed to Johnson Green Funeral Service Inc. eric.johnson@johnsonfuneralservice.com
Erling Johnson
Owner-funeral director
Erling was born and raised in a funeral home family in Parshall, ND. He is a graduate of UND’s Business Dept. in Grand Forks in 1989 and 1990 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Following mortuary school, Erling worked in Madison, WI and in June 1994 joined his brother, Eric as a funeral director at Green Funeral Home. February 1, 2001, Erling and Eric became co-owners of Green Funeral Home. Now called Johnson-Green Funeral Service, the brothers operate together with Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls and Oklee, MN. After marrying the love of his life in 1994, Erling and Amy are the proud parents of Nolan (1997) and Kira (1998). They are members of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. erling.johnson@johnsonfuneralservice.com
Duane Morey
Funeral Director
Duane Morey is a funeral director with the firm. Duane has been in funeral service since 1995. His family includes his wife Robyn, sons, Quincy, Collin, step son Aaron. duane.morey@johnsonfuneralservice.com
Paulette Grindeland
Secretary
Paulette Grindeland began working as a part time secretary for Green Funeral Home in April of 1992. She retired from US West, with 31 years of service in April of 1992, walked across the street and began working at the funeral home. She plans on putting in 31 years of service to the funeral home also. Paulette brings a new level of compassion and understanding to the staff. She has the biggest heart and makes everyone feel welcome. Paulette grew up in Viking, MN. She and her husband lived north of Thief River Falls for many years, but moved into town in 2001. Her family includes her husband, Thales "Babe"; sons, Darrin and Wade (Denae), both of Thief River Falls, and her pride and joys, three grandsons Chandler, Kadin, and Tucker of Thief River Falls. She attends the Community Church in Thief River Falls.
Delphine Mongoven
Secretary
Delphine Mongoven works as a part time secretary with the funeral home since August of 1998. She retired from US West Telephone Company, with 35 years of service in August of 1996, after working in various cities and departments. She is an active member of St. John Lutheran Church and church auxiliaries. Her family members include a husband, Mike, sons, Dana, Minneapolis, MN and Jeff, Pequot Lakes, MN, sisters, brothers, and many relatives.
Aaron Skallet
Funeral Director
Aaron Skallet joined the Johnson Funeral Service staff in July 2007. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and formerly held a position in Duluth, MN.
Jim & Carol Johnson
Funeral Director/Director's Assistant
Jim was born and raised in central Wisconsin where he graduated from Merrill High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Stephens Point and graduated from San Francisco Mortuary College in 1961. Carol was born and raised in northeast Montana where she graduated from Medicine Lake High School. Jim and Carol attended and graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. They moved to western North Dakota where they had funeral homes in Parshall and New Town. They retired and moved to northwest Minnesota in 2002. They are the parents of four children Eric (Kandace), Erling (Amy), Kelly (Todd) Mondry, Ellen (Cary) Rummel and grandparents to nine grandchildren.
