| | | Vernon Anderson, 83, died on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at his daughter and son in law’s home, rural Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 10, 2007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be in Landstad Cemetery, Pennington County, MN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer service on Sunday evening and also at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Vernon Theodore Anderson was born on October 12, 1923 in Sanders Township, the son of Theodore G. and Julia (Simonson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls and attended Oak Grove Country School and Lincoln High School, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1943.
Vernon was united in marriage on December 16, 1944 to Muriel Swenson in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple farmed their entire life in Sanders Township. He was Sanders Township Assessor for 49 years and also served as treasurer for Sanders Town Board. He was Assessor in Norden and Numedal Township for many years and secretary for Landstad Historical Church and Cemetery Association. Vernon was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, and served as president of the Thief River Falls Creamery Board. He enjoyed watching sporting events on TV, playing cards, curling and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathryn (Ray) Ulrich of Thief River Falls, MN; three grandchildren: Ryan Ulrich of Thief River Falls, MN, Kara (Robert) Rode of Wausau, WI and Jennifer Ulrich of Minneapolis, MN; two great grandchildren: Will Rode and Ava Rode of Wausau, WI; brother, Stan Anderson of Milwaukee, WI; half brother, Donald Anderson of Thief River Falls, MN; and half sister, Arlene Lee of Cloquet, MN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel on August 11, 2002; his parents; half sister, Norma Thelen of Alameda, CA; and half brother, Loren Anderson of Fergus Falls, MN.
