| | | Gladys M. Anderson, 90, died peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 5, 2008 in the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Frank Ehling officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Gladys Margaret Sorenson was born January 28, 1918 in Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Ed and Clara (Peterson) Sorenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Viking, MN. She grew up in the area and attended country school near Viking and attended high school at Newfolden, MN. She worked at M&D Café and Sorenson Café, both in Thief River Falls, MN.
On November 30, 1939, Gladys was united in marriage to Harold D. Anderson at Viking, MN. The couple lived in Thief River Falls and Gladys worked at restaurants for a short time.
Gladys enjoyed her long walks where she often watched children playing. She also was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching all levels of sports. Flower gardening brought her comfort. Gladys was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.
Gladys is survived by a son, Ron (Diane) Anderson, Anoka, MN; grandchildren, Beth (Rich) Anderson-Owens, Athens, GA, Jodi (Joe) Tupy, Blaine, MN, Jeff Anderson, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Chad (Wendy Ostby) Anderson, Grygla, MN; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Jordan, Dillon, Tanner, Jacob, Madison and Ethan; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband, Harold, a son, Gary, sisters, Minnie Potucek, Clarice Johnson, Fern Timmons, Alice Larson, Beverly Dawes, Doris Kelley and Signey Sorenson.
