Thomas Jarrett Bowen of Elkview, WV went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 5, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones and will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him.
Tom is a member of Witcher Creek Baptist Church in Belle, WV and was a caretaker of the Mt. Mission Church campground for 12 years. Tom retired from Kanawha County Schools after 31 years of service and was a member of the School Service Personnel. He enjoyed mowing grass on his John Deer tractor as well as fishing, camping, and wood working. Tom also loved to eat doughnuts and was a Mountaineer fan as well as, an avid listener of The Gaither Vocal Group. Tom loved to spend time with his pet Boston terrier “Ruby”.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents and brother: Herman Bowen
He is survived by his wife: Mary Bowen
Sons: Thomas J. Bowen, Jr., of Florida, and Timothy A. Bowen and his wife Tamara of Elkview, WV.
Daughter: Robin Lynn Hughart and her husband Bill, of Ripley, WV
Brother: Arbie L. Bowen and wife Quida from Phoenix, AZ
Sister: Opal; Russell of Charleston, WV
Seven Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren
Visitation will be held at Hafer Funeral Home Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Services will be Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 2:00p.m. at Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Marvin Welch and Sue Young officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, South Charleston, WV
Friends may call 2 hours prior to service.
The family would also like to give a Special thanks to the Hospice House of Charleston for all their time and caring.
