Ruth C. Carnefix, 80, of Elkview entered into eternal rest February 22, 2012 at The Oak Ridge Center.
She was born December 12, 1931, in St. Albans, West Virginia, daughter to the late Arthur T. Koontz and Josephine F. Koontz. She was a former employee of the Charleston Civic Center and Rose City Catering. She was a graduate of Elkview High School, Class of l949, and was involved with Elk District Little League and was Manager/Coach of the Frame Girls Softball Team for several years. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and sitting on her front porch.
Including her parents, she was also preceded in death by son, Reney L. Carnefix, brother Frank Koontz and sister Nancy Carnefix.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years Eugene Carnefix, sons Allen (Jennifer), Steve (Judy), Terry (Jerri) and Kevin Carnefix, and daughter Tonya (Troy) Conley, all of Elkview.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Megan, Derek and Adam (Catherine) Carnefix, Matt Carnefix, Alicia Harper (Tim), Chris (Chelsea) Carnefix, Justin Carnefix, Leah (Danny) Whitaker, Natasha Wilhelm, Ashley (Stephen) Cyrus and Dustin Carnefix.
She is also survived by her sister Evelyn Norman of Elkview and brothers Benny (Betty) Koontz of Elkview, and James (Linda) Koontz of Nitro.
Ruth has 12 great-grandchildren and special neighbors that were like grandchildren, Tyler and Trenton Teel and Trey Petry.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Ridge Center for their care of our mother for the last 18 months. A very special thank you to Betty Elmore for her extraordinary care, concern and love for mom. Also the staff at Hubbard Hospice House for their care of mom at the facility and Oak Ridge Center for the last 6 months.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV.
Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Bourn and Rev. Tim Harper officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. Visitation will be 6-8 Friday, February 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
