Harry C. Calhoun

Harry C. Calhoun, Sr. a lifelong Beacon resident, whose greatest source of pride and happiness was his family, entered into rest Wednesday, July 9, 2003 in Beacon.

Son of the late Harry and Helen Warner Calhoun, he was born August 14, 1923 in Beacon. He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph "Brud" Calhoun.

He married the former Betty Speedling on October 24, 1942 and happily celebrated 60 years of marriage. Mrs. Calhoun survives at home.

Harry proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps. He owner and operated Calhoun Radio in Beacon for many years. Later he was the general manager for US Cablevison. He was a member of Twinco Flying Club and a former member of Beacon Lions Club, Beacon Elks Lodge, and Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce.

Harry is survived by his wife, Betty Speedling Calhoun at home, his son, Harry C. Calhoun, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Danbury, CT; three grandchildren, Kara Campbell and her husband, Richard of Walkill; Scott Calhoun and his wife, Amy of Westerly, RI; and Kara Gadionnex and her husband, John of Poughkeepsie; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Caroline, and Emma.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday, July 11, 2003 at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at the funeral home with Rev. David E. Eylers officiating.

Interment will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring.
