Alexander George "Baldy" Baltich



Alexander George Baltich, a resident of Glenham and former longtime Beacon resident, entered into rest surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie after a long and courageous struggle. He was 73.

Son of the late Michael and Nora Durrick Baltich, he was born June 20, 1931 in Peekskill and raised in Cold Spring. He moved to Beacon in 1954.

Alexander proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Marines. He was honorably discharged April 9, 1954. He was employed as a welder for Greenfan, Beacon prior to his retirement.

He is survived by his former wife and dedicated friend, Shirley Baltich of Wappingers Falls; two daughters, Susan Wood and her husband, William of Cold Spring and Carol Baron and her husband, Joseph of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Helen Killmer and Joan Serino both of Beacon; two brothers, George Baltich and his wife, Jane and Daniel Baltich and his wife, Judy all of Cold Spring; two grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica Baron both of Raleigh, North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Halvey Funeral Home, 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, August 2 at the funeral home with Rev. Sandra Mantz officiating.

Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Respiratory Care Unit and the staff of the Palliative Care Team at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and the nurses and staff of the Ventilator Care Unit at Wingate at St. Francis for their kindness and compassion.
