Walter E. "Ed" Dearnaley, a longtime Beacon resident, entered into rest Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 91.

Son of the late Walter and Janet Foster Dearnaley, he was born November 3, 1910 in Newburgh.

On November 11, 1931, he married the former Dorothy Masten. Mrs. Dearnaley survives at home.

Mr. Dearnaley proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy in Norfolk, Virginia.

Mr. Dearnaley was a retired machine operator for the former Witco in Beacon. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Beacon where he served as Elder.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Dorothy M. Dearnaley at home; two daughters, Edwina J. Meyer and her husband, William H. of St. Augustine, Florida and Carol L. Jackson and her husband Philip L. of Beacon; five grandchildren, Kelly LaMar of Virginia, Britt Meyer, Tory Meyer both of Maryland, Peter Angelo and Damon Angelo and his wife, Lynn all of Beacon; seven great-grandchildren, Natalie Dennis, Ian and Gwen LaMar all of Virginia, Breanna and Kendal Meyer of Maryland, and Kayla and Devyn Angelo of Beacon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth; his brother George; and a nephew William.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 20, 2002 at First Presbyterian Church, Liberty Street, Beacon at 11 AM with Rev. James H. Edgar officiating.

Interment will be in Fishkill Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial Donations on Mr. Dearnaley's behalf may be made to a charity of your choice.
